Vozy, Well-Architected
The Challenge
Vozy, a Voice AI platform, aids businesses in transforming, scaling, and enhancing customer interactions with voice assistants and conversational AI. Operating in over 5 countries including Mexico, Colombia, and the USA. Lili Assistant, its artificial intelligence Voice assistant, is the first solution in the region developed in more than 7 Latin American accents, providing a better user experience with natural, almost human conversations.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, where the exchange with clients in person had to be reduced and companies were forced to look for new solutions to continue their operations; Requests for Vozy services grew by 600%.
Vozy responds satisfactorily to the 600% increase in its interactions with AWS services and the support of Clouxter
Due to this exponential growth of services in such a short period of time, it became imperative to review and optimize the workloads associated with its solutions, to guarantee the quality of the service provided by Vozy to its clients.
The Well-Architected Framework Review Intervention
Faced with this challenge, Vozy hired the services of Clouxter, an advanced consulting partner and cloud solutions provider for AWS services, to execute a Well Architected Framework Review (WAFR) on its most critical load, with the purpose of identifying and mitigate potential risks and obtain a resilient, secure and optimized infrastructure, capable of supporting the increase in demand for services and minimizing risk and incidents.
In this case, actions were established for 4 of the 5 pillars (old version of the Well-Architected Review) of good architecture practices (security, reliability, performance and cost optimization), distributed as follows:
Security
To increase security levels on Vozy’s platform, Clouxter managed its credentials and established human and programmatic access control, defined authentication policies, and eliminated unnecessary or shared credentials. Likewise, it defined a strategy to identify and manage security events, by evaluating and enabling Logs, metrics, and alarms, and activating Amazon GuardDuty, AWS CloudTrail, and AWS Config services.
On the other hand, they defined the network protection requirements and made the necessary configurations for the Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) subnets, Security Groups, Access Control Lists (NACL), and Endpoints. Access (Endpoints), and the use of AWS Well Architected Framework; in addition to configuring data protection at rest and in transit.
Reliability
Performance
A definition of performance requirements and considerations of compute options and required configuration was established, supported by the collection of related metrics.
Cost Optimization
For this pillar, a monitoring scheme for the use of resources and capacity was defined, in addition to a proposal for the implementation of a pricing model that will lead to cost reduction.
As a result of the remediation associated with the pillars mentioned above, an interesting improvement in the workload was achieved, which is evident in the following load states.

Benefits
The ability to make informed decisions and security on your platform
Thanks to the practices and recommendations identified during this Well-Architected Framework Review, Vozy has obtained different benefits. Through the establishment of a monitoring scheme through control panels and alarms, at Vozy they can view the behavior of all their services in a more controlled and organized way, and receive notifications derived from irregular situations or close to the limits established as a normal operation. All of this allowed Vozy to make informed and timely business decisions about the correct configuration of its base infrastructure, resources and associated services. This scheme not only improves performance, but also optimizes costs by not having oversized resources, and by supporting budget management through the issuance of timely billing alarms.
On the other hand, the strategy established by Clouxter allowed the identification of vulnerabilities in servers and resources, which helped Vozy identify its potential security risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
The secure, robust and scalable architecture, based on the best practices of the Well-Architected Framework Review, which Vozy now has, has encouraged them to continue optimizing their processes, which is why, with the help of Clouxter, they wanted to start a new project with the orderly migration of its workloads.
