Workshops

These are two-hour hands-on sessions where you work as a team to solve problems using AWS services. Each workshop begins with a short lecture (10 to 15 minutes) by the keynote speaker, and the rest of the time is spent working in groups.

Chalk talks

It is a highly interactive session format with a small audience. Each begins with a short (10-15 minute) lecture by an AWS expert, followed by a 45-50 minute Q&A session with the audience. The objective is to encourage technical discussion about the architectural challenges we have faced. The talks last one hour and are expert level

Builders’ sessions

Each session begins with a brief explanation or demonstration of what you are going to build. Without this requiring a formal presentation. They must bring a laptop to build accompanied by an AWS expert.

AWS Spotlight, AWS Sandbox

Lab topics range in level from introductory to expert and take approximately 40 to 120 minutes to complete. Practice in a sandbox environment, exploring real-world cloud scenarios with step-by-step instructions in the AWS Management Console. How to schedule in-person sessions:

Catalog filters

Filters include price, day of the week, difficulty level, session type, topic, AWS service, and industry. To do this, go to the event, sessions section. There we will be able to see the session catalog, there is a set of filters available in the left sidebar of the catalog, which shows a variety of filters that you can use while browsing. Filters include price, day of the week, difficulty level, session type, topic, AWS service, industry, job role, by hotel.

Catalog search

We can also use the search. At the top of the session catalog, there is a search bar where you can freely enter text.

Mark as favorite

When reviewing the catalog of sessions, we can mark the sessions that interest us as favorites by clicking on the star.

Calendar organization

When selecting my favorites, I go to the “calendar” section and there I find the organization of my agenda. See the gaps, which ones are crossing my path, and verify whether or not I am contemplating the transfer times. To unfavourite, simply click on the star again.

Book a session

For events with reserved seating, when a session has seats available, the button on the session card will say “Reserve Seat.”

For sessions with a price, the button will say “buy for (price)”. Clicking buy will open the purchase form where you can complete the transaction. Once the transaction is complete, that session will show in your reservations list.

Bootcamps have an additional cost and are not included in registration. All other sessions are included. There are 5 in total

Waiting list for a session

When a session has no seats available, because capacity has already been met, the button will say “join waitlist.” If you join a waitlist for a session and a seat is available, you will be notified via email that you have been awarded that spot.

Cancel a reservation or waiting list

Once booked, you can cancel the “cancel reservation” or also “cancel waiting list”.

Recommendations on scheduling

  • Start reservations with the smallest ones: such as chalk talks, Builders’ sessions, bootcamps, because they are the first to fill up
  • Followed by Workshops and Breakout sessions.
  • There are 22 Leadership sessions, be sure to schedule at least 5
  • Keynotes cannot be reserved
  • Make sure you choose the content that has the most value for you and your business.
